Perform bulk actions, connect form fields, and more with Custom Objects
Do more with custom objects thanks to this latest collection of updates. Custom objects now support a String List field type, bulk actions, marketing automations, and Forms to close the gap between what custom objects can do and what standard contacts and companies could already do.

Custom objects grow up: a new field type, bulk actions, and Forms support
- String List custom field type:define a set of options and pick from them, rather than relying on free text
- Custom objects supported in Forms:form fields were previously limited to contacts and companies, and can now pull from any custom object, with the source object labeled on each field
- Bulk actions and a marketing flow for custom objects:manual automations can now be started on custom objects in production, including assign-owner and create/update actions, plus a new start-a-campaign action that finds associated contacts and kicks off a campaign
- Form submission files flow into Conversations:files uploaded through a form now show up directly in the conversation, with images rendered inline
Why it matters
Custom objects have been powerful for tracking business-specific data, but they've lagged behind contacts and companies in what you could actually do with that data — no bulk actions, no Forms support, and no easy way to trigger a campaign off of them. This release closes those gaps directly, so if you're tracking something like pets, vehicles, or memberships as a custom object, you can now build the same kind of automated workflows already available for standard CRM records.
Who it's for
- Partners and businesses using custom objects to model business-specific data (pets, vehicles, memberships, etc.)
- Anyone building Forms that need to reference something other than a contact or company
- Partner sales teams who want automated follow-up (via campaigns) triggered by activity on a custom object
How to get started
- To use the new field type, go to your custom object's field settings and add a "String List" field, defining the options respondents can choose from.
- To reference a custom object in a form, select a field in the Forms builder from the dedicated section for the desired custom object.
- To perform a bulk action, filter a custom object list as desired, select all, and choose an action to apply to all.
- Files uploaded through a form now appear automatically in the related conversation, no setup required.
FAQs
Q: Can I disambiguate two custom objects with the same field name in a Form?
A: Not yet, this is a known limitation the team is still working through. The source object is labeled on each field to reduce confusion in the meantime.
Q: Do the new custom object automations work for existing (already-created) custom objects, or only new ones?
A: They apply to custom objects in production generally, not just newly created ones. You can attach a manual automation to existing custom object records.
Q: Does the start-a-campaign action work with any published campaign?
A: Yes, it finds the contacts associated with the custom object record and enrolls them in the campaign you select.
