We’ve recently identified that Foursquare listings are no longer functioning properly within the Listings Distribution network. After researching the issue, it appears that Foursquare has officially sunset its consumer-facing platform (Foursquare City Guide) and is shifting its business model toward enterprise data and location intelligence products.
Because of this change, it seems that:
The public business listing system is being discontinued, with limited or no ability to create or claim new listings.
The API endpoints supporting listing synchronization may be deprecated or limited to legacy data feeds.
The SEO value of Foursquare as a citation source is rapidly declining due to the loss of public visibility and backlinks.
Given these developments, I recommend that Vendasta review and possibly deprecate Foursquare from the active Listings Distribution network to avoid inaccurate “Not Synced” messages or client confusion in dashboards and reports.
